Good academic practice
The rules of good academic practice refer to the fundamental values underpinning academic work. The maintenance, monitoring and communication of these standards is the central function of academia and academic work.
The regulations outlined in the Statute for Safeguarding Good Academic Practice (in German only) are an expression of HAW Hamburg's institutional responsibility and commitment. All university members and staff who carry out academic work also commit to fulfilling these principles. The academic work undertaken at HAW Hamburg shall adhere to the standards of good academic practice at all times.
The ombudspeople for good academic practice are available to answer questions about good academic practice and to respond to information regarding potential academic misconduct. You can contact any of them, regardless of their faculty or subject area. All information will be treated as confidential.

In addition to the HAW Hamburg ombudspeople, the German Research Ombudsman, a committee appointed by the German Research Foundation, is a national body responsible for safeguarding good academic practice. Here you can find additional information about good academic practice (recommendations, policies and guiding principles). You are free to choose whether you contact one of the local ombudspeople or the national ombuds committee. It is not possible to bring an issue to both bodies simultaneously.
The DFG guidelines are available here: Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice.
