The projects within the Mobility and Transport research programme address a range of topics, such as developments in the field of signal processing for automotive electronics, simulations of the dynamics of radial shaft seals, and repair methods for integral fibre-reinforced plastics.
As a commercial centre, Hamburg places great importance on identifying innovative solutions to challenges in mobility and transport. In the area of aeronautical engineering, HAW Hamburg has achieved a leading role in the development of cabin systems. Numerous collaborative projects with key actors in the region’s aeronautical engineering industry ensure the intensive transfer of research findings.
Digitalisation has opened up many options for technical developments in aeronautical and automotive engineering, necessitating a systematic analysis of what is possible and the constructive development of new approaches. Through the Mobility and Transport research programme, HAW Hamburg contributes significant know-how in this area.

Application of Dynamic Systems
................................................................................................................................................................................................
The current information- and electrical-engineering projects apply the joint methodological approach of dynamic systems in the following areas:
- Automotive electronics: ABS sensors, state estimation
- Energy supply: optimisation of load profiles, IT, logistics, energy and resource efficiency in distributed systems
- Navigation: optimal filtering of ship navigation data
Close cooperation with industry ensures that the findings are used in a product- and application-oriented way.
Electric Mobility
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Among other things, the Electric Mobility research group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Production Management works on micro-mobility and mobility within neighbourhoods.
Aeronautical Engineering
................................................................................................................................................................................................
The aeronautical engineering research groups deal with questions related to the design and development of passenger and cargo aircraft. In particular, the aim is to improve economics by reducing drag, weight and secondary power consumption as well as reducing development, manufacturing and maintenance costs. Further questions concern the increase in efficiency, environmental friendliness, passenger safety, and comfort.
