Faculty leadership
The Dean's Office heads the faculty. The director of the faculty's administration is responsible for managing the faculty's administrative activities and reports to the dean. The Extended Faculty Management Council is an advisory body.
Dean's Office
The Dean's Office heads the faculty in accordance with the responsibilities assigned to it under the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG). These include the management of the budget allocated to the faculty by the Executive Board and the allocation of positions within the faculty. It is also responsible for determining the faculty's strategic direction. The Dean's Office is currently made up of the acting dean and three vice deans. The dean is elected for a five-year term, and the vice deans for three-year terms.

Extended Faculty Management Council
The Extended Faculty Management Council is made up of the members of the Dean's Office and the department heads. The council consults on matters of particular importance and those matters that impact numerous departments, with the goal of coordinating decision making between the Dean's Office and the department-level management. These matters include budgetary issues and medium-term funding needs in the departments, structural and development planning, and the terms and conditions for target and performance agreements.
