Additional regulations
Confidentiality agreements for final theses and project papers
................................................................................................................................................................................................
When agreeing upon a final thesis or a project paper, the student and the first examiner will determine whether the company wishes to restrict publication of the thesis/paper topic or implement another form of confidentiality agreement.
More information is available on the German version of this page.
External second examiner
................................................................................................................................................................................................
If the person you would like to select as your second examiner is external to HAW Hamburg, you will need to submit an application for an external second examiner at least two weeks before registering your thesis.
Please note: When you submit your application for an external second examiner to the Faculty Service Office, you need to submit the original document with ALL of the original signatures (all signatures: student, external second examiner, first examiner).
You can find the application form under Anmeldung (registration) in StISys. It needs to be filled out and given to the external second examiner and the first examiner for information and for their signatures. You then need to submit the signed original to the Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Service Office with the documents listed on the application form (a copy of the examiner's highest academic qualification – at least a B.A. for Bachelor's theses and an M.A. for Master's theses – as well as a CV which proves that they have at least five years of relevant professional experience). These supporting documents are not required if this person has served as an examiner in your department during the last five years and the documents are still on file in the Faculty Service Office.
You can log in to StISys using your HAW account and your personal password.
Applying for an extension of the submission deadline
................................................................................................................................................................................................
If you have an important reason (which you will need to prove), you can request an extension of the time allocated to complete your thesis. You can do this up until two weeks before the original submission date.
Application to extend the submission deadline for a final thesis
Please submit the completed and signed application, together with the necessary supporting documents (where required) to the Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Service Office.
